HEROES is thrilled to be able to bring the FUN back to FUNdraising by hosting our 10th Annual HEROES Gala. Our event will be held at the Renaissance Plano Legacy West. Your support will help change the lives of many families by helping children and adults with disabilities be included i n their community and have meaningful, fulfilled lives. HEROES is a quality program that serves children and adults with disabilities, serving families in the DFW Metroplex since 2005. Staffed by certified educators, paraprofessionals, college interns, licensed therapists, high school counselors, and trained volunteers, we strive to provide lifelong learning through community experiences. Our social, recreational, and vocational programs are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities. Through these community-based experiences, our students gain confidence and job skills which can lead to employment and volunteer opportunities in their community. This allows them to achieve a level of independence that reduces their dependence on others which is a win-win situation for our students and the community. Throughout the years, HEROES has grown from serving five families to over 600 families. HEROES’ programs include Summer, Winter, and Spring Break Day Camps, Weekend Retreats, and our year-round community-based HEROES Academy. We provide quality programs for ALL people with disabilities; we never turn anyone away due to their medical, behavioral, or financial need. The tuition that families pay does not cover the true cost to run HEROES’ programs. Without participation and financial support from the community, we cannot keep our programs community based and led by certified educators. Our goal is to continue to be a community-based program with most of our programming outside of the classroom. This allows our students the opportunity to generalize life skills in a real-world setting. HEROES is proud to be one of the only adult day programs in our area that is truly community based and gives everyone who wants to attend the opportunity to do so.
